FAO: AliDeck Customers and Friends

Summer is officially here although the weather currently can be best described as good for ducks rather than people! While the last couple of weeks have been pretty damp we did see some glorious extended sunshine beforehand, exactly the right weather for enjoying life on your aluminium-decked balcony!

The last month has been very busy for the AliDeck team, with a raft of major orders received for our non-combustible aluminium balcony component systems. With a big rise in enquiries and issued quotes, too, it all points to both an ongoing rise in construction and an increasing confidence in specifiers that AliDeck is the best choice for balcony and terrace decking requirements!

Here’s your latest news from AliDeck, makers of non-combustible aluminium decking products designed to create a safer built environment for us all, and includes;

  • Stacked Balconies and BS8579:2020
  • Become an AliDeck Approved Installer
  • Ongoing EWS1 Difficulties
  • Remembering Grenfell, Four Years On

Stacked Balconies and BS8579:2020

The new British Standard for Balcony and Terrace Design, BS8579:2020, is our industry’s blueprint for design excellence.

The new Standard contains a lot of thoughtful, crucial guidance on achieving safe balcony design and, crucially for specifiers and designers, effectively outlaws stacked balconies with combustible materials at any height.

Become an AliDeck Approved Installer

AliDeck is dedicated to doing all that we can to ensure our products provide the best outcomes possible. We launched the AliDeck Training Academy in 2019 in order to help installers get to grips with our products and we’ve had a lot of installation crews come through the doors since.

We are looking to find more installation companies who would like to go through our training programme and become AliDeck Approved Installers. There is a huge amount of install work available all around the UK and the industry is crying out for aluminium decking installers.

Ongoing EWS1 Difficulties

The EWS1 scheme has been plagued with difficulties almost since its inception.

Despite RICS’ recent intervention to try and ease the issues, there are reports that homeowners in supposedly exempt buildings are still seeing lenders insisting on these surveys.

Remembering Grenfell, Four Years On

And finally, the fourth anniversary of the Grenfell fire recently passed.

Construction has come a long way since with many necessary changes achieved but there’s still a long way to go before we secure the fire safe future that will help prevent a similar such tragedy.
