AliDeck make site visit to inspect installation of non-combustible aluminium terrace deck at Bermondsey penthouse apartment
The AliDeck team enjoyed another site visit up in the Big Smoke today as we travelled into London to take a look at an ongoing project that is using AliDeck aluminium decking.
A retrofit installation on a low-rise block in Bermondsey, the works are taking place as part of fire-safety remediation across the whole building, including replacing combustible decking materials and combustible cladding. Once complete, the building will be able to attain EWS1/External Wall Fire Review certification and be deemed fire safe, allowing mortgage lenders to offer loans against the properties within.
The penthouse apartment enjoys a large roof terrace area, with striking views across the City. Replacing the existing combustible deck in this feature area raised questions regarding aesthetics and functionality in addition to the fire-safe requirement. With our A-Rated 20mm Junior Flat Board in Textured Sand specified to the job, however, a stylish and elegant deck surface that is a perfect compliment to the space is guaranteed.
Installed over a flat roof surface, the terrace deck uses our 50mm Low Joist and Adjustable Pedestal Brackets to provide level, stable, and strong support across the roof surface. Coupled with our Spreader Plates to protect the waterproof membrane and prevent risk of puncture, the structure is a solid base for the terrace deck and will provide decades of service, with an expected lifespan of 60 years for all of our AliDeck products.
We shall be dropping back to this project in a couple of weeks to capture imagery of the completed work at the penthouse and the other deck areas where the AliDeck System will be installed.
