The AliDeck design and engineering team were out on site recently to inspect a potential issue
AliDeck believes in delivering excellent customer service from the very first point of contact through to delivery of AliDeck products and beyond. A crucial part of our commitment to our customers is our working closely with them to ensure that our products solve all of their problems and meet their requirements perfectly.
We love working from client project drawings to fully understand projects, to make sure that the correct products are specified and to identify any potential issues. From time to time, though, inspecting drawings alone isn’t quite enough to make sure that any possible problems are ironed out. In those instances, a site visit from the AliDeck design and engineering team is in order.
We recently became involved with a very interesting project in Kent; the conversion of a lovely four-storey city-centre building from commercial to residential use. The building has a central atrium, which is lined on all four sides on the upper three levels by continuous steel walkways. The developer chose AliDeck decking boards to replace the existing steel Durbar plate to benefit from the lightweight, non-combustible properties that aluminium provides, as well as the excellent aesthetics of our AliDeck boards.
A key requirement in the developer’s specification was for the new walkways to incorporate a positively-drained water-management system. With an existing gutter built into the steel framework, we proposed having the AliDeck Drainage Channel sited between the AliDeck Boards to capture and direct rainwater to the ends of the boards and into the gutter, which delivered exactly what the customer required.
With the proposal made and accepted, and the design verified to the client’s drawings there remained a minor question mark over a couple of small areas where the steel framework potentially clashed with the drainage system. To ensure that there would be no surprises during installation, the AliDeck design team was dispatched to site to perform an inspection of the potentially problematic areas and, if necessary, develop a solution. Fortunately, the problem turned out to be easy to mitigate and the flexibility of the AliDeck System allowed for a simple customisation to be proposed. The customer was satisfied and the project was able to continue.
With installation of the AliDeck decking boards expected shortly, we’ll be keeping a close eye on this striking development and will be returning to site to document progress and completion. In the meantime, please enjoy some images of the site “Before AliDeck” in the following gallery.
