AliDeck Sales Director Kizzy makes site visit to EWS1-failed medium-rise building in Eastbourne to scope out balcony decking fire remediation works
AliDeck Sales Director Kizzy was on the road recently for a site visit to a retrofit project in Eastbourne. The 15-year-old development has received a failed EWS1 form due to the wall cladding and its timber balcony decking, so full remediation of the external envelope is required.
AliDeck has supplied replacement decking to a great many refurbishment projects throughout this year and 2020, so we have developed a keen understanding of the issues that come with performing fire remediation of balconies, terraces, and walkways.
This particular project has timber balconies throughout, hundreds of them across the six blocks, as well as timber-decked walkways. All of this combustible material must be removed and replaced in order to resolve the EWS1 issue and enable the homeowners to mortgage or sell their properties.
Kizzy, an AliDeck original and part of the team since day one, made the visit to the project to precisely understand the materials quantities required, as well as scope out the technical parameters of the job so as to be able to factor in the fine detail and ensure the smooth completion of the balcony and walkway replacement works.
AliDeck is a supply-only manufacturer of aluminium decking but we have decades of construction and engineering experience in-house and are always eager to closely collaborate with our customers to implement projects. Making site visits to get hands on experience of the areas that our products will be used in is just one part of the high level of service we deliver to our customers.
