AliDeck Aluminium Decking Balcony Furniture Tie Down Anchor subjected to load testing, achieves 2.0kN loading

AliDeck is committed to manufacturing safe balcony component systems. But balconies are designed for living and to be enjoyed, so practical solutions for safety are required. With balconies being exposed to high wind conditions, the use of furniture on balconies can pose high risk unless properly secured to the deck.

We produced our Furniture Tie Down Anchor to provide a safe and strong solution for our customers to secure chairs and tables to their balconies. Constructed in aluminium and custom-designed to integrate seamlessly with our Junior and Senior aluminium decking board ranges, our Tie Down Anchor is an elegant solution to a practical problem.

We recently performed destructive testing on the Furniture Tie Down Anchor to understand its limits. Engaging the services of Accolade Measurement, a certified test house, we were pleased to see the excellent results our product achieved!

When placed between fixed boards, an increasing load was applied to the Furniture Tie Down Anchor using a Hydrajaws 2000 hydraulic pull tester. The test was stopped at 1.3kN load due to deformation of the boards, but the Tie Down Anchor did not fail or suffer any defects.

Eager to understand the limits of the Anchor itself, we secured it into steel and applied load to destruction. Slight bending of the Anchor occurred at 1.7kN but failure did not occur until a load of 2.1kN was reached.

These are great results, as they show that the combination of our Aluminium Decking Boards and Furniture Tie Down Anchor can resist up to 1.3kN (or 130KG) loading, while the Anchor itself will offer secure lashing up to 200KG if secured to framework.

Once again, the performance of AliDeck products have been proved by independent physical testing. We are proud of our track record of manufacturing compliant and safe products and are looking forward to the next set of testing we undertake!
