AliRail Vertical infill Aluminium Balustrades Available in Multiple Fixing Options for Versatility and Ease of Installation

As balcony manufacturers continue to seek compliant solutions in the ever-changing market landscape post-Grenfell, it is important that these new solutions do not increase the time for installations to ensure that projects remain on course for the established deadlines. Fortunately, the AliDeck range are leading the way in trail-blazing innovations and system designs. In particular, the AliRail Balustrade Kit is rapidly becoming one of our most popular products for steel frame balconies.

Whether you have steel cantilever balconies or concrete inset balconies, AliRail aluminium balustrade systems meet all of your railing and balustrade needs. With its kit-form construction and extruded aluminium components provided for high strength and low weight, AliRail provides excellent versatility for all applications. For steel balconies, the much more common balcony type across new-build construction, we have two fixing methods for AliRail Vertical Infill; the Top-Fix and Plate-Fix options.

Our Top-Fix method has more connections into the top and underside of the steel frame, so can deliver higher loading performance up to 1.5kN commercial requirements (as proven in independent load-testing to a test rig at our Rochester HQ earlier this year). The excellent performance of the Top-Fix option provides ample reassurance to specifiers, the result data is indicative only and loading performance for individual balcony designs is the ultimate responsibility of the balcony designer.

Alternatively, the Plate-Fix is a simpler option for our modular balustrade systems. Fixed to the front of the steel, the plate-fix allows for fewer connections into the steelwork and therefore less drilling is required. This fixing option still achieves the residential balcony loading requirements, though, easily achieving the 0.74kN/m horizontal line load performance under test conditions. The simplified connection detail means that installation is quick and easy, saving a huge amount of time on-site or at the balcony manufacturer’s factory.

AliDeck will pre-fabricate the aluminium balustrade elevations precisely to the customer’s requirements, all supplied in kit-form as part of the balustrade kit, regardless of the chosen fixing method. This pre-production and kit-form supply saves our customers money through time and labour. While many manufacturers will choose to assemble off-site, as the AliRail balustrade is dispatched in kit-form it allows for balconies to be finished on-site for further efficiencies. Transporting balconies pre-built to site allows for roughly 2-3 balconies per flatbed lorry. Alternatively, you could transport the steel frames and our balustrade elevations by the dozens on a single lorry and construct on-site, saving on expensive transport.
