AliDeck recently visited TetraClad at the prestigious Trevor House remediation project in Knightsbridge, London
London is widely regarded as one of the busiest cities in the world, with a growing population increasing the demand for multi-storey multi-occupancy accommodation in order to house the millions who live, travel to, and work in the city. Many of these buildings face high levels of risk due to poor design including the use of combustible materials both internally and within external walls. AliDeck is proud to be a part of the solution.
The Trevor House remediation project in Knightsbridge, London, is nearing completion with TetraClad successfully remediating several key areas of the building. Trevor House is located in Central London just a few minutes’ walk from Hyde Park, and immediately opposite the world’s leading luxury department store, Harrods.
TetraClad are leading specialists in Rainscreen Cladding with years of experience within the fire protection industry. Taking great pride in the fact that they are a leading specialist in solutions for external walls, it is a great privilege for AliDeck to partner with a company who shares such similar values to our own.
Not only were the balconies at Trevor House in need of a fire-safe solution, but AliDeck were also tasked with supplying decking solutions for the terrace area, and a linked fire bridge for emergency evacuation between the neighbouring buildings. The goal was to create a fire-safe environment for all and a futureproof solution for the building owner and its leaseholders.
AliDeck supplied our Senior Flat Board and Junior Flat Board along with the supporting Board Clip’s in a delightful Wood Grain finish and we could not be more thrilled with the outcome of the project. The boards create a truly eye-catching finish, seamlessly integrating into the building while offering leaseholders with the traditional yet ever popular wooden aesthetic finish.
For the terrace area, TetraClad began by using our aluminium spreader plates to protect the waterproof membrane before using our custom adjustable pedestal brackets to achieve the desired build up height. The boards were supported by our Lite Joists that were supplied in 6m lengths in mill finish. Furthermore, as users cross the decking and terrace spaces, the fire-resistant tape applied to the joists will reduce noise transfer to the floors below.
This project included a fire escape link bridge from the adjoining building, which was an interesting and notable addition. With those within the industry on high alert to areas within the design of existing buildings that pose a risk of fire, such an area can play a key role in the safety of the buildings occupants, allowing for a safe exit should a fire-related incident occur.
By replacing the existing timber decking, the building owner and leaseholders can move forward with the peace of mind that these critical areas of the external walls are now safe and in line with current regulations. By creating an aesthetically pleasing environment, leaseholders can look forward to taking advantage of such areas to their fullest potential.
The existing timber decking boards would have required regular maintenance to maintain, and required a full replacement process every 10 years. With aluminium decking, not only will the boards have a minimum 60 year life expectancy but also carry a 30 year manufacturer guarantee with little-to-no maintenance required outside of regular cleaning.
TetraClad has achieved a fantastic result on such a prestigious project located in the heart of our capital city. The board has not only provided a futureproof solution but will create additional value to the building. With aluminium proving to be the new de facto standard, we are proud to be the leading supplier as a UK-based manufacturer.
