AliDeck Supplies Juliet Balcony Solutions for the 2-4 Sidney Street Development in Whitechapel, London, in Partnership with PMS Composites
AliDeck is excited to have supplied our non-combustible aluminium solutions, including the Junior Flat Decking Board, AliClad Flow Soffit System, and AliRail Plate Fix 0.74kN and Juliet Balustrade systems, for the 2-4 Sidney Street project in Whitechapel, London.
This project marks the start of a promising partnership with PMS Composites.
Led by their director Chaz, PMS Composites embarked on their first project with AliDeck after attending our installation training at HQ last year. Impressed by the quality and versatility of our products, Chaz and his team were eager to incorporate our cost-effective solutions. With design support from Louis Taylor, our sales manager, PMS Composites successfully integrated our products into the development.
The project involved the installation of 18 Juliet balconies, featuring our inner-mounted Juliet balustrades, which provide both safety and modern aesthetics. Additionally, PMS installed eight cantilevered balconies of varying sizes using the AliRail Plate Fix 0.74kN balustrade system and the Junior Flat Decking Boards, laid left to right across the steel frame for a secure, low-maintenance solution.
Innovative Solutions for Modern Balcony Design
The 2-4 Sidney Street development will showcase AliDeck’s aluminium decking solutions. The Junior Flat Decking Board was selected for its fire-resistant properties (A2-s1, d0) and slip-resistant surface, making it ideal for this project. It’s ease-of-installation and low maintenance requirements make it a valuable addition to the development for decades to come.
To optimise water management, the AliClad Flow Soffit System was installed with an extended punched gutter, enabling effective rainwater drainage while enhancing the balconies’ durability and sleek appearance. This innovative soffit-level edge drainage system supports a contemporary look while meeting all safety and performance standards outlined in BS 8579:2020.
On the top-floor penthouse balcony, the AliRail Plate Fix 0.74kN balustrade system was used with creative design work by PMS Composites. The system was installed without needing to fix into the concrete substructure, demonstrating both flexibility and design innovation.
AliDeck and PMS Composites are continuing their collaboration with further work planned, including a basement terrace balustrade and a penthouse terrace decking solution. These additions will complete the project before the final handover.
