AliDeck to Supply Ultra Board, Eco30 Joist, and Supporting Components to Alu-Installations for the Teddington Wharf Decking Remediation Project in London
The Teddington Wharf Decking Project was listed for remediation in December 2022, when AliDeck met with John from Kingsley Symes Consulting, representing the residents. The initial evaluation revealed that the existing decking was in poor condition and required a fire-safe, compliant solution in line with current regulations. AliDeck was subsequently specified as the decking supplier, with Alu-Installations appointed as the Main Contractor to oversee the project.
The project was divided into several key phases, the first of which has been successfully completed. The detailed scope of work included:
Removal of Existing Timber Decking: The old timber decking was carefully removed to prepare for the new installation.
Painting of Primary Steels and Balustrades: The primary steels and balustrades were repainted to enhance longevity and visual appeal.
Installation of New AliDeck Products: AliDeck solutions were installed, replacing the pre-existing decking. Aluminium decking offers a direct replacement for timber and composite boards, with versatility for precise cutting to length, angle, and radius.
AliDeck Solutions Specified for this Project included:
- Ultra Board: A robust and durable decking board designed for high performance
- Eco30 Joist: An eco-friendly joist that offers excellent support and sustainability.
- Pedestals and Brackets: These components were essential for the secure and level installation of the decking system at the required build up heights.
To enhance the functionality and durability of the decking, the boards were designed to project slightly from the front edge of the structure. This strategic projection allows water to be efficiently directed away from the deck’s surface, preventing it from pooling or accumulating. By ensuring that water is discharged effectively, this design feature helps to protect the underlying structure from potential water damage, such as rot or corrosion, thereby extending the overall lifespan of the decking system and maintaining its aesthetic appeal over time.
With the first phase completed, the project is currently preparing for the next stage. The second phase is anticipated to commence before the end of 2024, continuing the commitment to delivering a high-quality, durable, and non-combustible decking solutions for the residents.
The Teddington Wharf Decking Project exemplifies a collaborative effort between AliDeck, Alu-Installations, and Kingsley Symes Consulting. Through meticulous planning and execution, the project aims to enhance the safety, functionality, and visual appeal of the decking area, ensuring satisfaction for all stakeholders involved.
