Barretts of Aspley Complete Lite Board Installation at Fulham Reach Development Project in London, in Partnership with Berkeley Group – Balcony Decking Solutions
AliDeck were fortunate to collaborate with Barretts of Aspley at the prestigious Fulham Reach development in London. Central to this project were key AliDeck products across the balconies: the AliDeck Lite Board, Low Joist, and Balcony Drainage System. These components underscore our commitment to supporting fire safety and effective drainage across multi-storey, multi-occupancy buildings with balconies, terraces, or walkways.
This new-build development, located on the banks of the river Thames in a key conservation area, required safe, compliant, and aesthetically pleasing solutions to meet the standards of Berkeley Group, who specialise in brownfield regeneration and building quality homes.
Our partnership with Barretts of Aspley (BoA) was instrumental in ensuring success. BoA, known for their expertise in structural steelwork, architectural metalwork, and balconies, brought invaluable experience and innovation to the table. A collaboration that promises a strong commitment to quality.
AliDeck’s non-combustible products achieved a fire-rating of A2-s1, d0 and A2fl-s1, adhering to BS 8579:2020 guidelines. Our products ensured the highest level of safety for the balcony decking, a critical consideration in multi-storey residential buildings as this is considered part of the external envelope.
In this project, the Barretts of Aspley specified the AliDeck Lite Board was chosen for its lightweight yet durable nature, seamlessly blending design with compliance to stringent safety standards. The Low Joist, and Triple Bolt Channel were instrumental in achieving the necessary build-up heights, ensuring structural integrity across the project.
Additionally, our 30x30mm Angle Trim not only enhanced the safety of the balconies but also contributed significantly to their aesthetic appeal, underscoring our focus on delivering solutions that are both functional and visually pleasing.
The AliDeck Balcony Drainage System, incorporating the Junior Access Wide Gutter and Drainage Channel, was pivotal in ensuring adequate drainage solutions were in place. This efficient deck-level solution, adept at capturing and channelling rainwater and spillages, is essential in preventing water accumulation and mitigating potential hazards.
Fully compliant with BS8579:2020 guidelines and NHBC Standards 2024, the AliDeck Drainage System addresses key concerns of Building Control organisations, guaranteeing a well-drained balcony environment.
Our selection of aluminium for decking solutions is rooted in its exceptional properties, making it an ideal material for durable and cost-effective construction projects. Aluminium, renowned for being the pound-for-pound strongest metal, exhibits remarkable resistance to corrosion when applied with our Qualicoat Seaside Standard Class 2 powder-coated finish.
The Textured Silver Grey finish was powder-coated in-house at our facility in Rochester, Kent, and significantly enhances our operational efficiency. This is a major benefit for our customers as it allows us to offer highly competitive lead times which can be an extremely important factor in the success of large-scale projects.
Class 2 powders are a far superior finish to alternative methods, it offers a modern aesthetic that is highly weather-resistant and complements the balconies year-round. This process guarantees quality and consistency, making it an ideal choice for projects seeking a blend of modern elegance and timeless style.
