D1 Decking Solutions recently completed the remediation of Kensington Aldridge Academy’s terrace deck and balustrades, using the AliDeck Senior Ridged Board and AliRail Plate Fix systems. The transformation has created a fire-safe and futureproof environment.
Recent years have seen a stringent review of current building regulations led by drastic changes outlined in BS 8579:2020, a welcome step forward in improving the fire-safety of thousands of buildings across the UK.

AliRail Plate Fix System Provides Effective Modular Aluminium Balustrade Solution for Terrace Deck
AliRail is a modular balustrade system made from aluminium. It carries many benefits, including the lightweight nature of aluminium and hassle-free installation, while it can be customised to suit any space through our various fixing options. The AliRail Plate Fix option is load tested in accordance with BS 6180:2011.
The AliRail Vertical Infill plate-fix option fixes to the front of the steelwork, reducing the amount of drilling needed. By simplifying the connection detail, installation can be completed quickly and easily, saving time on-site.
For this project, D1 Decking installed our 15 x 50mm Rectangular Spindle option, a highly popular choice which adds great aesthetical value to the terrace. The vertical infill spindles are supplied in pre-fabricated elevations meaning our customers will benefit from additional time-saving on-site.
AliDeck: Complete Decking System Ensures Project Success at London School
The AliDeck Senior Ridged Board offers excellent slip resistance, even in wet conditions. It also has incredible wear resistance, which provides a robust and durable solution for decades to come. With a 105mm profile height, the Supa Joist’s extreme strength allows for a maximum recommended span of 3500mm.
The Senior Ridged Boards and Supa Joists are supplied in a Stone Grey (RAL 7030) powder-coated finish, one of our 10 standard colours available. This provides a consistent and aesthetically pleasing appearance, even when viewed from below.
All AliDeck systems are naturally A-Rated and achieve a fire rating of A2-s1, d0 and A2fl-s1 meaning they are futureproof in accordance with current regulations. With a minimum life expectancy of 60 years and a 30 year manufacturer guarantee, it offers full peace of mind to both our customers and the property managers.
