Roof terrace decking replacement completed at Indigo Blue, Leeds, by AliDeck approved installer JB Project Services

With the strict reviews currently placed upon materials used within high-rise multi-occupancy buildings across the UK, many are seeking compliant and non-combustible alternatives. This includes the external envelope of buildings and has seen thousands of balconies, terraces and walkways need remediation/regeneration projects. We were pleased to receive photographs of the completed works at the Indigo Blue complex in Leeds. Our Approved Installer, JB Project Services, were tasked with the process of replacing the existing timber decking found on the external terrace area. This lovely space provides residents with a communal area that allows for panoramic views across the City of Leeds and is a key amenity for quality of life.

JB Project Services have been responsible for a multitude of successful projects since completing our Approved Installer training. Their team have proven to be a great addition to our installer list and the results at Indigo Blue highlight their first-rate level of workmanship.

The project saw the existing combustible timber decking stripped away exposing the waterproof membrane which was laid to fall to a central gully for drainage. With our Senior and Junior Flat Decking Boards intended to provide the terrace floor, our Low Joists were installed supported by Adjustable Pedestal Brackets with Spreader Plates to protect the membrane.

Our highly versatile decking boards to create seating around the curved benches. This required a range of radius cuts to create a curved finish, easily achieved as our aluminium decking boards can be treated much like its timber counterpart when it comes to cutting to length, width, angles, or radius. The benches were then finished with a colour-matched bespoke rolled trim on the edges, sourced externally on this occasion.

Finished in RAL 7016 Anthracite Grey powder-coat, our most popular finish, the decking boards complement the blue aesthetic of the property’s facade while creating a fire safe and highly durable terrace that will provide service for decades to come. All of our aluminium decking products carry a minimum life-expectancy of 60 years with a 30 year manufacturer guarantee.

AliDeck’s Technical Sales Manager Aidan Wilson oversaw this project, collaborating closely with the team at JB Project Services to ensure the process ran smoothly. The results are a terrace roof that will now withstand the test of time and the elements. Residents can take comfort in the fact that this outdoor living space will not only be non-combustible and prevent fire, but will also remain clean and aesthetically pleasing with little-to-no maintenance required outside of regular cleaning.
