AliDeck make site visit to see work-in-progress on installation of our modular balcony kit of decking, soffit cladding and balustrade to steel balconies

Since our new modular balcony kit has hit the market, high levels of interest have been shown by steel fabricators and balcony manufacturers. We have been delighted to see the first orders shipped to site over recent months and have been following the installations closely.

AliDeck made a site visit this week to a new-build development in Sheffield where our balcony kit of aluminium decking, soffit cladding, and metal balustrades are is being installed to steel cantilever balconies.

The project is an attractive multi-storey block and the balconies will provide essential outside living space for the future residents. The developer, Ashgate Properties, was keen to ensure the highest standard of finish for the balcony package and to be able to guarantee safety. The choice of aluminium balcony components fixed to the steel frame is an ideal hybrid approach to achieve these aims.

The installation of the aluminium balcony kits is progressing at pace on-site, with many balconies now completed. With the balustrade being despatched in pre-fabricated front and side elevations and the decking and soffit cladding being extruded boards, installation of all elements is a simple and quick affair.

Finished in the striking RAL 9005 Jet Black, the balconies look really sleek and provide a great complement to the stylish architectural design of the block. Our 30mm Senior Decking Board provides a stable deck surface from its excellent deflection properties and our AliClad Flow soffit cladding provides water-management at the balcony underside.

An additional benefit from the hybrid aluminium and steel balcony approach is the significant weight savings. Aluminium is a significantly lighter material than steel so using it for the balustrade and soffit cladding can result in a greater than 50% weight saving, allowing for extra savings to be made on structural design.

We are really pleased to be able to see our AliDeck, AliClad and AliRail balcony component systems coming together like this on a live project. It’s great to see our aspirations for our products become realised by our customers.
